Solange gets Rimmel Contract

Posted by SOULGIRLY on Thursday May 27, 2010 Under Uncategorized

These Knowles girls love an endorsement.

Coty Inc., beauty company, has announced that the Company will sign Zooey Deschanel, Solange Knowles and Alejandra Ramos Munoz to team with Kate Moss, Georgia May Jagger and Coco Rochas as the aspirational ambassadors of Rimmel London, the British cosmetics brand.

“Zooey, Solange and Alejandra each bring a distinct look and personality to Rimmel London, expanding the brand’s visibility and strengthening Coty’s global colour platform,” said Coty CEO, Bernd Beetz.

The Rimmel ads in the Uk are huge with the tagline “Get the London Look”… I mean who wants the Solange make up look?

Kelly Rowland: Shake Them Haters Off

Posted by SOULGIRLY on Thursday May 27, 2010 Under Uncategorized

Kelly Rowland has announced the title of her new single, called ‘Shake Them Haters Off’.

Rowland will release the song as the first single from her as-yet-untitled third solo album in the US only. Her latest dance collaboration with David Guetta, ‘Commander’, will instead be released in the UK and across Europe.

Discussing how dance music has influenced her traditional R&B sound, she told Pinboard: “Don’t judge me, listen to the record. For so long being in a group was, part of my blood. I had to almost reprogramme myself for just me, I, Kelly.

“Everyone was like, ‘Are you going to do a full dance album or are you going to do an urban album?’ I’m doing both, because I won’t allow anyone to put me in box.

“I’ve got to find my voice. I blame myself a little bit for not having the faith to do that, and I finally have the faith to do that.”

According to All Access, ‘Shake Them Haters Off’ is due to hit American radio stations on June 15.

Beyonce the Diamond Thief in New Dereon Commercial

Posted by SOULGIRLY on Thursday May 27, 2010 Under Uncategorized

Wanna peep the commercial:

Dereon is a fashion line which the singer and her mother introduced and in her latest TV advert, her warrior-like moves are sure to impress fashionistas.

In the clip, Beyonce attempts to steal a valuable diamond which is protected by laser beams and high security.

Nothing will stop the beauty though, and with her track ‘Single Ladies’ playing, she leaps and slides between the lasers to get to the gem.

The commercial has been aired in Brazil and all the stunts were done by Miss Knowles herself.

LeToya Luckett snubbed AGAIN by the BET Awards

Posted by tashana on Wednesday May 26, 2010 Under LeToya Luckett

Looks like BET still got a problem with LeToya. We all remember what happened last year and we are wondering what’s keeping them from giving LeToya her props AGAIN this year. BET revealed 2010’s nominees/performers last week but unless my vision is fading hard, LeToya’s name is nowhere to be seen. We’re not sure this time if Mathew is behind this because we know that he’s trying to set-up a reunion. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s only interested in LeToya just to use her in Destiny’s Child for press and wow factor but that in reality he’d still want to make sure she fails as a solo artist.

What’s intriguing is that LeToya had a pretty good year with the highly acclaimed album Lady Love, considered one of the best R&B album of the year by the majority and the success of her single “Regret”. The anthem hit the Hot 100 and was a solid Urban hit. “She Ain’t Got” was also pretty popular too because of the Matt Kemp/LeToya/Rihanna love-triangle drama. The video is about to hit 1 million views on Youtube. Her movie “Preacher’s Kid” did very well in theaters and is now selling like hotcakes on DVD/itunes. And now she’s about to be in that movie with Ashton Kutcher called “Killers“.

The girl has been working hard and making moves but yet BET is failing to acknowledge the success of one of the most influential black woman of the year. She was one of the most active this year but they’re not letting her perform her hit with Ludacris, let alone give her a single nomination at all,  when mind you, other artists that hasn’t released an album since 2008 get nominated, if you catch my drift. LeToya could be the next Gabrielle Union in the Hollywood business but yet BET isn’t supporting our community and potential rising stars, they rather nominate some stupid piece of shit like Justin Beeber.

This is pretty usual for these BET fools to “forget” about LeToya. In 2006, “Torn” was a #1 hit for months and the album was #1 as well and sold platinum but BET thought that wasn’t good enough to reward.

BET get your shit together SHIT!

Farrah talks about Reunion

Posted by SOULGIRLY on Wednesday May 26, 2010 Under Uncategorized

For the most part, it’s common knowledge that during it’s eight-year run, Destiny’s Child has gone through many changing faces. So when Internet reports surfaced earlier this month claiming the heralded group—in all it’s alterations—were in talks about a full reunion tour, fans rejoiced. But out of the six girls to ever participate in DC, Farrah Franklin was the only one said to have been skeptical about partaking in the reunion. Franklin, however, told VIBE she has yet to receive an invitation.

“Right now, I’m kind of hearing about it with everyone else. It hasn’t been presented to me yet. When it does or if it does, I’ll deal with it as that. I’ll have to see if it’s something in real talks or if it’s fake,” she says.

The 29-year-old actress, who last spoke with Beyoncé ten years ago, says she would be interested in joining the reunion if compatibility was a guarantee.

“I’m really a personable person and I would just want everyone to get along. Little Farrah has a lot on her shoulders and all I ask is happiness in return and for it to be fun,” she says. “There’s so many different personalities and it’s been a long time, so you just don’t know. I would be cool with everyone, I have no problems, but it’s not about just me. There’s five other people.”

In 2000, Franklin was allegedly kicked out of Destiny’s Child for missing shows, a reason she still adamantly claims to be untrue. As an 18-year-old in a internationally-recognized girl group, Franklin says she was careful of when to open her mouth and never complained, even when silently dealing with dehydration and a stomach flu.

“I’ve delt with bitches my whole life and I’ve never gotten paid for it. So you think I’m going to come in a group and get paid and have a problem? Oh, no. So obviously it has to come to a point where I was really unhappy, there was no catfighting or anything.”

But despite any past drama, Franklin still believes that Destiny’s Child is the world’s biggest girl group and has personal memories that are positive. “We were working on my birthday and I’m not the type of person to expect things, so unexpectedly there was a little cake for me [after a performance] and they got me a pair of Gucci shoes. It was a great moment because I didn’t think anyone was paying attention. I felt like part of the family for a moment.”
Franklin, who still does light singing, currently has her first self-scripted, self-casted indepdenent film, Single Black Female—which she also stars in—on video shelves now and is also working on a sequel
