A group of promoters in the Port of Spain plan to write letters to State-owned Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) asking to withdraw it sponsorship from Beyonce’s February 18, 2010 tour. They say her presence will disrupt and take funding away from Carnival activities(a very important even in latin culture).

Bringing Beyonce at this time puts more pressure on the industry,” said Fernandes, adding “Carnival activity is a very high risk and a lot of bands suffer high losses”.

He also went on to say the concert cost in the vicinity would cost TT$10 Million (US$1.4 million)

The Recording Industry Association of Trinidad is also raising objection to the concert.

The State making a $10 million investment to stage an artiste like Beyonce in Trinidad and Tobago is a very large investment,” said RIATT general secretary Fabien Alphonso in a press statement.
