Now I could easily sit and hate on Solange for whatever reason but I have to say she has raised an important question in the black community. Solange did look beautiful with her hair short and I think this IS a positive message. Well done Solange.

  1. Cool Says:

i think solange looks a hot mess, i don’t think any female with hair that short is beautiful, but that’s just me. and people with nappy hair that you can’t run your hands through also look a hot mess, who wants to walk around lookin like they’ve just been through a tornado

  2. jayzlips Says:

hER INTERVIEW WAS POINTLESS cuz in the end she said 3 years from now I may want it back,,,so all that bondage mess was nonsense!..she still confused..40,000-50,000 a year?

  3. jayzlips Says:

she rasied the question and then went right full circle back around to where she started…AND WHO IN THE HELL PERMS A 4 YEAR OLD CHILD,,A BABY…NO ONE OTHER THAN TINA KNOWLES

  4. Sincerely, F The Knowles Says:

    Fake broad.

She wears weaves all the time. Useless, babymomma flop!

  5. NotCool Says:

    Oprahs really reaching for rating

  6. Kanyade Says:

That’s what I thought, who perms a 4 year old head??? :( *sadness*

I like her teeny-weenie afro. I’ve got one of my own ;)

Remember when this happened? Solo said she didn’t need your hate OR your co-sign. :( She doesn’t want fans support nor does she need it.

  7. Kells Says:

First of all nobody needs a cosign from anyone about their OWN HAIR!! Geez….We all have the freedom to do our hair anyway that we see fit. I don’t think you should put a perm on a 4 year old though because like Chris said that decision should be left up to them when they become old enough to make a decision on how they want to style it! I think us black women put way too much stock in Hair….for God’s sake it’s just HAIR PEOPLE!!!

  8. Fedup Says:

Okay here is my take on this whole interview.

I feel the discussion is good because Black women for years have been enslave to our hair texture everything from relaxer, hot comb and natural hair styles so it was a good discussion. I agree with a lot of things Solange have mention.
Chris Rock made a good point about 4 year old having a perm. A child that age should not wear any chemicals period. However Chris as much as I love you….baby….you not the one to comb and style that child hair as she gets older on a daily bases. I bet you it is his wife. Do he know how it is when that child is crying and screaming my head is tender and it hurts? It takes time….so many mother as there child get older tend to make that decision base on making it easier to style. I use to hate it when I was a child and my mom use to comb my hair….. it hurt as hell. Once she relax it I was at peace. Hot comb she done at first but that do not last long period. So sometimes it due to comfort more then anything. But I understand where he is coming from. He need to also understand the other side of it too.

    Now to Solange….

However here is the ultimate problem with Solange message

    1. Okay Solange it is good you wanted to be free from bondange….but your message is pointless when one you said you may change your mind 3 years from now and not to mention hello your sister BEYONCE …runs around in a hair weave constantly! A blonde hair weave I may add that symbolizes subconsiously sends a message that black peole have a self hatered for themselves and aspire to fit into white society standard of looks. Why we never see Beyonce do a move like Solange???? AREN’T THEY RAISE IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD…LIKE….SOLANGE JUST STATED? So that means Beyonce been spending $50,000 +++ on hair weave alone a year?????????? I mean Solange pretty much confirm what most of us ben saying. Heck Stans been swearing up and down it was Beyonce real hair  …and poof….here is Solange stated she spent that much on hair weaves..so if she spent that imagine Beyonce!

So the whole leature from Solange frankly sounds like a pile of bullshit at the end of the day! Nice try Solange…but it sounds silly coming from you of all people when you got a sibling…who is frankly an icon that is sending wrong messages to black girls every where. As I said there is nothing wrong wearing a weave…..just switch up the style every now and then and be honest and tell folks the truth. Beyonce do not do that. NOW SOLANGE NEED TO GIVE HER SISTER THAT LECTURE…CAUSE BEYONCE IS BONDED TO HER LACEWIG. So Solange…save that free bondange crap to yourself when you look at yourself in the mirror cause when she speaks thsi stuff to other folks it sound ridiculous to a point.
Now if this was India Arie or Erika Badu talking about this…that that is another story I take them seriously!

    2. I am all for people rocking natural styles. But I said this before and I say it again. That hiarstyle do not look good on Solange. She do not got the face and features to pull off that look.
Amber Rose can pull it off. Jada Pickett can pull it off. Not Solange! I can understand she cut her hair short style like Nia Long or the short Hallie Berry look. But this look on Solange do not compliment her at all. She look like I am sorry to say Orlando Jones. It just do not make her look good at all.

    3. Is it me….or do Oprah beginning to run out of topic for her show???????????????????????????? Did you notice she said Beyonce little sister LMAO. Solnage will never ever get out of Beyonce shadow! Why for once they do not introduce this girl with out mention her sister’s name for one minute?

  9. jayzlips Says:

If the just said SOLANGE…everyone in the audience would say WHO?..face it white peeps dontknow her like that….somewhite people dont even know beyonce…my supervisor didnt know beyonce till single ladies came out…I had to tell her beyonce been around for a long time…she like oh i dont listen to that musick..but once i saw Justine Timeberlake on SNL I started to like her song…lol…whites dont check for them like that

  10. Sophia Says:

I don’t understand how someone does not like Oprah or Solange but watched the show anyway either they are confused, stupid, or both! The hair topic is a hot topic for sure! I could not believe that Tina Knowles permed her childs hair that young! I agree w/Oprah regarding the styling of ones hair is a personal choice. PPl should wear and style it as they choose. I personally feel it would be gr8 to love your natural self and if u choose to add anything for style or preference don’t think you are not as good without it! Kudos to Solange for reminding ppl that as humans we change our desires, ideas, choices, etc. so don’t ridicule someone for reverting back to something they came away from if this is something that is not harmful to anyone. Heck her family is rich and they cant take them millions to the grave so they can spend how they choose! Why should we care?

@Cool, I like Beyonce and I’ve shared many of your views regarding her on the blog. However, I must say that your opinion of what Beauty is I strongly disagree. Hair is something that may enhance ones beauty, but I’ve seen some of the most beautiful women without hair or very little. All black ppl don’t have nappy hair. However, if they do then this is how the Creator made them and it’s not ugly. Bad and ugly hair is hair that is unhealthy and dirty, in my opinion. But you have a right to your opinion either way!

  14. Fedup Says:

HERE IS A COMMENT BY SOMEONE WHO WORKS FOR MATTHEW AT MUSIC WORLD…

“I worked with Matthew Knowles at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo last year. He’s a nasty, arrogant scum. There were rumors he used to beat his wife Tina, and if you see the way there are when they’re together …you’d believe it. He’s scum, and lives off his daughter beyonce.
Another point about that trash Matthew. His daughter Beyonce is the sweetest thing, but he uses Beyonce’s popularity to try and force that no talent teenage mother of a daughter of his “Solange” down everyone’s throat.
He made us have Solange perform some crap boring song in the show, otherwise he wouldn’t let Beyonce sing “Single Ladies”. And that was just as Single Ladies hit the charts last November. He made Solange having to perform, as part of Beyonce’s contract. He always does it. He did it at the Essence and or BET Awards as well. Solange sucks, and he knows it. But he will decline, or even pull Beyonce from performing in the 11th hour , if you don’t let the no talent daughter sing.
Hey Matthew. HAHA and eff you. You suck. You’re a pig and everyone hates having to work with you. You’re getting what you deserve. I feel bad for Tina. I’m sorry Beyonce had to be brought up by you, cause like her Mom, she’s very sweet.”

  16. don't believe the hype Says:

how can you speak of not liking women with real kinky hair…you must not be black, or your just ignorant…she looks fine to me..don’t know why people like to call her ugly

i’m glad she’s doing something different from her sister…that’s why we’re on here talking about her..Solange mission accomplished lol

  17. Sophia Says:

how sad to find joy in someone else’s misery or misfortune. That is not righteous, nor is it the action of a happy person. The one who feels happy due to someone facing difficulty is one who the wise know is miserable themselves. That negative weight sure is heavy! You and you know who you are are in true need of a soul detox! Praying for myself and you all! Allahu Akbar!

  18. Cool Says:

    Sophia

solange’s hair isn’t only short but it doesn’t even look like she brushed it or put anything in it, like she just woke up and went on her way. yes all black people do no have black hair, i was just saying for the ones that do, i think it would be silly for them to walk around with it just because people think that straightening it or getting a perm is trying to be white. i hope i don’t sound rude with this because to me it seems like it but im not trying to be smart or anything

i didn’t mean to say that the hair was bad, i agree bad hair is unhealthy.

  19. Cool's Shadow Says:

I wear my hair in all kinds of styles. Right now I am rockin the natural look. I have a lot going on right now, and I really don’t have the time or ambition to deal with long hair. No doubt I will grow it out again and then cut if off again depending on what I am dealing with. To me hair is an accessory.

@Cool black people began straightening their hair to appease white people and I believe a lot of black women still straighten their hair because they feel they are not acceptable to society if they wear their natural hair. Your first comment is a reflection of other such comments I have heard people make regarding a black woman’s natural hair. Sadly, ALL comments of this nature, that I have heard have come from black people.

Personally, I have worn my hair in many different styles from straight, curly, naturally curly, short, long, etc. If someone makes a judgement of my character based on a hairstyle, then THEY have issues that need straightening out. Perhaps a few sessions on a counselors couch would suffice.
