Beyonce to play Eartha Kitt

The project is still on hold at the moment, but Beyonce Knowles has said that she is hoping to get the chance to slip into the slinky one-piece first made famous by the original Catwoman herself. When she was prompted to say what she planned to do for her next on-screen role, the pop star answered, “I was going to do a film about Eartha Kitt. It’s a great story.”
In fact, Knowles is so keen to be a part of the movie that she would rearrange her hectic schedule to accommodate for production, should it get the green light.
That should be some interesting casting. Granted, we know that B can fill out a catsuit no problem, but the late, great Eartha’s shoes would definitely be a bit harder to fill. She better start practice purring.
No no no Beyonce!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you not learn from before???? Portraying people does NOT get you the Oscar you think you deserve….. this is a bad and proedictable move…..

I don’t think this is a good idea. I think she needs to work on her acting more before she tries to take on an iconic figure such as Eartha Kitt. Notice all of the roles she seems to be interested in: Angela Davis, Eartha Kitt, Etta James, Barbra Striesand, etc. Does she really think that picking “iconic” women in terms of a movie role is what’s going to make “HER” iconic? Think about it? Why does she always seem to go after these legends so to speak? Give it up Bey, that’s not what’s going to make you an icon. First of all, becoming an icon is not something that you set out to do. You either have it, or you don’t. It should come naturally. Not forced. I really hope that they get someone else to play the part. It may be great for a change if Hollywood gets an “unknown” actress this time around to do it. It may turn out for the better. Beyonce needs to concentrate on getting plenty more acting lessons before tackling anybody’s life story.

Yes…there are plenty of other actresses who could do this role [and those of Angela Davis & Diana Ross] justice, but in light of the fact that Beyodel and Pimp Daddy are likely the ones who will be executive producing these movies, that's pretty much not gonna happen.

This truly goes to show how selfish she is. She knows that there are better actresses out there that can play these movies yet she’s going for them all because she has the money and fake star quality. I guess gain the world and lose your soul in the process.
I know their are plenty of people on my job that try and step on peoples toes to get ahead, but not once has anyone stepped into my particular field and knew exactly what they are doing. They have to learn the parts of the job before they can come in and do the job or else it makes them look bad and the surgery doesn’t doesn’t go correctly because the tech isn’t doesn’t know the steps the surgeon uses to complete the case. So my point is how is she going to step on other actresses toes to get ahead and hasn’t even studied the craft herself. She is a selfish cold-hearted heffa, and it’s sad that people are being dismissed so she can be an icon. She has all the money in the world yet she has nothing better to do but kill herself while stepping on other people.

Has the Knowsless clan bought all the rights to these movies too? Angela Davis, Eartha Kitt, Diana Ross, etc. Aren’t there any other executive producers out there that can bring on REAL actresses? Bey in these roles is an insult to the women she is planning to portray on film and clearly she is not in this field for the love of the craft. She is just after an Oscar. I know that is all actresses ultimate goal, but they LOVE what they are doing and have taken the time to improve thier skills. Bey thinks she knows how already and is making a complete fool of herself.
They can do better for the late Eartha Kitt and the iconic Angela Davis. Bey should not insult these women on film.

Why is it that Beyonce is trying to portray famous women all of the sudden? What about choosing a role of a fictional character (like the boring wife on ‘obsessed’ or the lil’ hood chick in ‘…temptations’)? I read some of the posts above who believe it’s for an Oscar, but all other actors and actresses who win Oscars DO NOT necessarily play someone else who is famous.
Something seriously does not add up with Beyonce playing other famous people. Is she and her d*ck of a pimp out to have her portray other famous people (like Angela Davis, Etta James, Eartha Kit and Diana Ross???) in hopes that those people’s fanbase will somehow resonate with Beyonce and therefore increase hers? That’s seems nice, in theory, however, Beyonce does not have the greatest track record when it comes to the big screen. If she f*cks up playing anyone of these famous people, she will definitely not only get slammed by the press, but by those famous people’s fans as well. Not a Good Look…

I think Beyonce will be able to pull off the sultriness of Eartha Kitt with the sexy walks and maybe even the purring. But once she opens her mouth to speak, that’ll kill everything.
As conniving as the Knowles may be (don’t forget Beyonce has JZ and his people working with her as well), to truly be successful in this world you have to own shit and be able to write your own ticket and call your own shots. So, that is what they are doing by being the Executive Producers. There is more money behind the camera than in front anyway.
ex. Look at how fast Oprah blew up once she purchased her own studio.
ex. Torry Spelling only became a big star because of who her father was.
Most wealthly people became that way by stepping on toes and crawling on heads to reach the top. We hear about Puffy doing that all the time.
It’s a cruel and dirty world out here, but the way Beyonce is going about it probably will always secure her future… her sisters future… her nephews future… and the kids Beyonce may have. They are striving to have their name around for decades to come (and to be a major player in the entertainment world.) and to be able to pass money down the generations.
The Knowles are going for a Warners Brother, Steven Spilberg, Bill Gates, Hilton, Marriott, Picasso type of style.
The want their OLD money and name to be around for their decendants 50 years from now.
Like it or not ladies and gentlemen, it looks like Beyonce is the one women show who may pull it off.

Once in a blue moon, during an interview you will hear Beyonce talk about she likes to paint in her free time and it relaxes her. Guess what ladies and gentlemen…. In several years, she will put her paintings up for sale for a MAJOR profit. This is yet another horrible idea. She has no business being in a lead role in a movie, let alone portraying a legend, she has messed that up in two films already. Enough is enough. She can buy all the movie scripts and cast herself as the lead all she wants to, she still won’t be taken seriously as an actress because she simply does not have the acting talent. Many reviewers ripped her a new one in Obsessed which is her 7th film and that crap just came out 2 weeks ago. She is so arrogant calling herself buying these scripts when they could be work for real actresses, and especially talented black actresses, who face the worse politics ever in Hollywood.

Forcing yourself onto the media only works for so long, until another it person comes along, it’s an endless cycle. She’s just getting by because competition is slim in this era. Other decades had plenty of talented divas all coming out super successful at the same time. That’s not so these days. It seems like mainstream media will only pay attention to one person or maybe two at a time. J Lo was the it girl a few years ago involving herself in everything much like Beyonce is doing: music, clothing line, and acting. Beyonce is following her blue print. But I will say the next it girl will have to be super talented, to eclipse Beyonce’s shadow. The movie had a reported budget of 20 million dollars, yet it was able to make that 20 million back in opening weekend with an 8.5 million dollar gain all while topping every other movie available that weekend. Todays generation has no idea who the hell Eartha Kitt is and they wont care to find out just because Beyonce is portraying her. I feel that is why Cadillac records wasn’t as successful as critics felt the performances warranted. Once again today’s generation doesnt give a flying fuck who Etta James is and before Cadillac records came out they didn’t care to find out.

You know to be honest with you I didn’t know who Ray Charles was until I saw the movie. I kid you not and when I saw the movie it made me more interested in knowing who he was. Also I never knew who Etta James was, but the movie didn’t capture me like Ray Charles. Ray Charles was more in depth and gave me more of an idea of who he was, whereas Cadillac Records gave me Beyonce in an Etta James wig.

Although Obsessed was a horrible movie it was not a flop. And as far as her Sasha Fierce Album it is no where near a flop. If you’re comparing to her other albums you can’t say it did worse because her other albums have been around longer. So please stop stating she’s a flop. I totally agree with you, there isn’t any competition out here right now. And most singers are the ‘it’ girl for a period of time.
However, when I think about the female singers that are out now, I still don’t think they can get their groove on the way Beyonce is doing. lol.
Some might can sing, but can not dance and vice versa. I know alot of people think Beyonce’s screams instead of singing (lol, and maybe sometimes she does. But, Beyonce is “going after hers”. But at the same time she may also have enough power and pull to stop other female celebrities from booking gigs (ie. magazine covers, movie roles, etc) that they rightfully deserve.
I do believe celebrities should make all the money they can while they are hot because they all understand in that line of business, that is how it works.

When Medea goes to jail came out it surpass box office limtis then Obessed.
Obessed had no competetion the weekend it came out. So her 13 yr old fans run out and egt tickets and Matthew purchase tickets to give to people for free. So what that tells you? They push back Obessed several times til it had no competetion at the box office. Sony did not even want critics to preview the movie ahead of time.

I appreciate all the comments you've made. You've stated your opinions clearly & in some ways objectively, without acting like one of her crazed illiterate fans. However, i ask you, as an intelligent woman, with a clear train of thought, how could you possibly imply that beyonce will be a name that people will remember in years to come, through her paintings e.t.c. In that sense, one would perhaps assume that you were putting her on a pedastool with the likes of aretha franklin, whitney houston, chaka khan, Oprah Winfrey. Now those names will be remembered for years to come regardless of the era.
Beyonce has no substance to anything she does, whether it be acting / singing, because she is a gimmick, a manufactured brand. And what do we know about manufactured brands….they always have a sell by date.

Absolutely not was I putting Beyonce on a pedestal. When I speak of Beyonce it is based on the fact that she is striving to do everything and be everywhere so that she is remembered.
When it comes to her paintings, I believe Beyonce has an ulterior motive. What I was saying is this….. Once in a while she talks about her paintings and 15, 20, 25 yrs. from now she will try to sell them as a collectors item or “A work of art, by Beyonce”. And the media will be able to go into their archives and show the public how she discussed HER paintings 15, 20, 25 years ago. Which in her mind, she is hoping it will bring her millions of dollars when she is in her 40′s and 50′s and the coochie popping is no longer acceptable and WILL NOT bring her large amounts of money. Beyonce goes to art galleries now and claims to collect expensive art. I kid you not, she is studying that expensive art and will incorporate that into her paintings. She is studying every paintbrush stroke.
People like the Knowles (and alot of other celebritries) think LONG TERM, not just 5 yrs ahead, but 20, 40 and 50 years ahead. I truly believe Beyonce believes her painting will garner top dollar decades from now.
But putting Beyonce on a pedestal, Oh Hell to the naw lol. I always look at things from several different prospectives and can usually forsee a person’s next move based on current and past behaviors.
It’s kind of like playing chess; or like the book ‘The Art of War by Machiavelli; or the book ’48 Laws of Power.’
I guarantee you, she and JZ have read those books and it’s no secret that JZ is a master at playing chess and they apply those chess moves and the text in those books to their everyday lives.

Guys I’m blushing!!! XD really!! but no.. in all seriousness, I pulled that one deep from my soul and the pure raw, uncut disdain I have for that chick and her stans.
