People said the same thing about Aaliyah, that she couldn’t act. They couldn’t take her serious (enough) because she was a singer-turned-actor. She was trying to work on her craft (but unfortunately, she never got the chance to because her time was cut short).
I think Beyonce has the capacity to act (if she works hard at on her craft and become her characters in the movies). I don’t think THIS MOVIE IN PARTICULAR will be a success of any kind, or award worthy, but hopefully she’ll get the oscar-winning role and work her ass on it.

Beyodel will never be an accomplished actress because for starters, she’s not serious about the craft. She has gone on record in the past as saying that because she doesn’t want to embarass herself, she will never take acting lessons…does that sound like someone who truly desires to become better? I could see if acting came to her as naturally as puzzy poppin’ but since it doesn’t, she should have been taken the necessary steps to prove to the naysayers that it’s something she’s TRULY willing to work harder at in order to grow/become better. Then again…all the acting lessons in the world might not be able to do jack for that horrid drawl she has when she talks, but that is yet another example of something a GIFTED actor/actress has no problem conquering.
And ftfo @ her telling him to get his prophylactics. I wonder how many takes it took before she got that shit right. *sniggling*

Great point taken. If she isn’t as serious as she tries to convince anyone, she won’t be a successful actress, and should JUST stick to singing.
I’m not saying she’s no “Halle Berry” or “Angelina Jolie”-in-the-making (hell, not even Megan Good) by any means, certainly with the line work she already has out, but I still root for her, because she is my girl, and it would be nice to see her in AT LEAST one memorable role.
But of course, it’s UP TO HER to be serious about acting and deliver. I won’t be seeing this because it looks like it ain’t about nothing. I’ll more than likely look at when I go to my cousin’s house and he gets on bootleg or something.

Beyonce wasn’t too bad but when she said, “I think I need to be alone”, that part was corny. Idris is very believable in that scene.

This movie reminds me a lot of the Glen Close and Michael Douglas movie, Fatal Attraction.
Considering Beyonce track record of copying other people, I wouldn’t put it past her if she wanted to redo that movie.

Why is this woman constantly making a complete fool of herself. She is so awful at acting and it’s a shame that animals can act better than she (and she’s a human). Where is the personality and drive it takes to be an actress. I guess with all the money she and Matty puts out that she would like to pay God to give her some form of acting skills, since she refuses to take acting lessons. I guess she has her priorities in the wrong order cause I thought that getting on screen and can not act to save her sould was more embarrasing than actually taking acting lessons.

*yawns* This will be going to DVD sooner than normal just like Cadillac Records. I’m interested in seeing American Violet, the Mike Tyson documentary, and The Soloist. Those films are getting rave reviews right now. Tyson’s documentary actually got a standing ovation at a film festival, the Cannes film festival I think.

Matty and Beyonce are executive producers of Obsession.
They manipulated the movie so that it would fit in the PG 13 rating.
WHY WOULD THEY DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT???
Because Matty knows that the majority of Beyonce’s fan base are kids, preteens, teens.
In his deluted mind, he probably convinced hiself that caddi records did poorly do to it R rating (instead of coming to terms with the fact that his daughter is not an actress even though her biggest stans admit to it).
So what does he do????

OMG! To follow up on the PG-13 rating for obsessed………. I’m watching for the love of ray j right now and I am freaking out! I have DVR and I am recording it…..They have just described the difference between Cocktail and Unique and Ray is saying how he wants the best of both worlds…… then commercial break right?

I don’t think anybody caught this or saw it for that matter. But you know how you can tell when somebody is caring a scene? Idris did that. Like he wa trying to get her to open up and get her to show emotion and act. It looked so non believeable on her half, that it was almost kind of sad. SMH.

I said months ago on another blog that I find it quite hilarious that Beyodel was born in the United States but apparently can’t master her native tongue [read: English] because every time she opens her trap, it sounds like she has a mouf full-o-shit. There are COUNTLESS actors/actresses out there [Idris included] who are able to adopt an American accent for their roles, so what’s Beyodel’s excuse for not being able to talk without that gotdamn drawl? I won’t repeat myself because I already touched on it a few posts back but I think it speaks volumes that the last 2 movies she’s been in have been executive produced by her and Pimp Daddy Knowles. That says to me that Hollyweird DOES NOT take her seriously…NOR is she in high demand [as evidenced by Brad Pitt refusing to do TCCOBB if she was cast as Queenie].

I agree…Halle isn’t all that as an actress, but at least she is able to TRANSFORM so that when you look at her on the screen, you don’t see Halle…you see her character. And mediocre acting aside, she also has the one thing that Beyodel covets most in this world: an Oscar.

example: this movie that is coming out should have played the homewrecker or a drug addict if I remember Halle played a drug addict with samuel jackson and thats when people took her serous.

^^I had no clue that Idris was British until after ‘Daddy’s Little Girls’ and believe me when I tell you, I was blown away. His accent was not detectable AT ALL and because of that, I would have sworn on a stack of bibles that he was American! lol And you are absolutely correct @

But considering the fact that Beyodel thinks her acting is good enough to where she doesn’t need to take acting lessons, I know it’ll be a cold azz day in hell before she admits to needing a speech coach. I blame her parents, though, because she should have BEEN gotten help with her diction/lack of articulation skills while she was still young because now that she’s in her 30′s, it’s pretty much a lost cause. smh
And lol @ you not wanting to waste your time going to see this hamtrosity of a movie…trust me, I was smh @ myself for being willing to sit through it but knowing that I’m not paying makes me feel a whole helluva lot better! lol And I wouldn’t bank on all critics panning it, because quiet as it’s kept, I think there are going to be a few [Black ones] who will likely be ridin’ Beyodel’s clit and lyin’ about how much they loved the movie and how much she’s grown as an actress, blah blah blah. But I cannot wait to see ‘At the Movies’, because I know Roeper and the guest critic will NOT hold any punches and I am looking forward to seeing them rip this shiz to SHREDS!! ctfu

Siskel is spinning in his grave. Idris is the only stronghold that manages to salvage what he could of this film and its a BIG WASTE of his effort.

I just read on another blog that Idris is pullin' the 'sick' card and has cancelled ALL promotional appearances for 'Obsessed'. From a random post on SR:
Clay Cane is reporting that Idris has been canceling press junkets. Here's what he said:
" 'Obsessed' is in theaters tomorrow and rumor has it Idris Elba has bailed out of all press due to early buzz that the film might be career suicide. This week, Elba did not attend the New York City press junket, cancelled on BET’s 106 & Park and supposedly he will not be at the red carpet premiere tonight in New York City. Elba’s reps say the actor has been sick all this week."
Poor Idris. I know it's tough in terms of getting roles & making that paper but damn @ him doing this movie being considered career suicide for him. I wonder if he knew who they had in mind for the role of his wife before he accepted and if he did, he must have REALLY needed the $$$ if he was willing to do it anyway. And from what else I've read, he and Ali Larter pretty much carried the whole fuggin' movie. Lawd…I cannot wait to see this shit for myself because for all intents and purposes, it appears it's going to be worse than any of us thought it was going to be!! smh & ctfu

For those of you who think a Pg13 rating is somehow a bad thing, you should really check the box office statistics. PG 13 rated movies gross far more money than movies that are rated R or NC 17. Titanic, E.T. and The Dark Knight are 3 of the highest grossing movies of all time and none of them are rated R.
Who ever is responsible for editing the movie to a point where it could pass for a PG13 rating did everybody involved in the project a major financial favor.
